INDIA are the champions of the 2011 world cup

India has repeated history of winning the world cup , they made this dream come true after 28 years.

It was a big match-the final of the world cup at Vankhede stadium in Mumbai.

The toss was confusing for players and even match referee, after all the drama they concluded the toss second time and Sri lanka won it and batted.

Sri Lanka started very watchfully against some great opening spell of zaheer khan which included in 5 overs 3 midens 6 runs and one wicket of Tharanga . Dilshan made a useful 33 before he was bowled by Harbhajan. Sangakara and Jaywardene made a good partnership , sangakara after scoring 48 fell to yuvraj .Samravera tried to steady the innings with jayawardedne but he was the second victim of yuvraj , he made 21 runs. In the next over Zaheer picked Kapugadera for only 1 run leaving Srilanka 182 runs for 5 wickets. Kulasekra gave a good support to jayawardene to build a good partneship and lead Sri Lanka to a good total. Kulasekra made 32 runs and was run out by direct throw by MS Dhoni. Jayawardene risen to the occasion made a brillant 103 not out and parera made quick fire 22. Srilanka made 274 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.

For India Zaheer and Yuvraj picked up 2 wickets and harbhajan also picked 1 wicket.

It was always going to difficult to chase for India with pressure of the final and lot of expectations. India started up badly loosing Sehwag on the second ball. Sachin was also out after making 18 runs leaving India 31for 2. Virat kohli and Gabhir took a matured approach and made very important partneship of 85 runs. Kohli was out by brilliant c & b by Dilshan. MS Dhoni promoted himself to No 5 and shared a great partnership of 109 with Gambhir. Gambhir narrowly missed the century in finals and he got out after making 97 runs. Yuvraj and Dhoni steered India to the victory. Dhoni was not out on 91 runs and Yuvraj made 24 runs not out. For sri Lanka malinga took 2 wickets , dilshan and parera shared a wicket each. Muralithatran failed to get impression on his last presence at the international level.

India chased the score and won by 6 wickets with making 277 runs for the loss of 4 wickets.

Dhoni was given a man of the match for his captains innings of 91 not out. Yuvraj Singh was declared player of the tournament for his all round performance.
